3/30: Self Portrait/ Propaganda Poster

Image
This week was one of my favorite in Illustrator. I love making art and being creative and I felt this project really let me lean into that. Although this took me around 5 hours, it was so fun and a really enjoyable project. When creating my self-portrait I first assessed which body parts I need to create first so that the layer was correct. For example, I needed my face in front of my neck but below my hair. I decided to do each body part in different layers that way if my judgement was incorrect, I was able to easily move around my objects in the order that they should appear. I also found it challenging to decide which colors I wanted my skin to be because when I would use the dropper tool it would be too dark or too light and look a bit unrealistic. I also found that using black lines for my tattoo and eyes looked a bit harsh so I ad to mute the shades in order for it to look more natural.       For my propaganda poster, I decided to recreate the famous "Make art, not wa

3/24: Logo

Personally this was one of my favorite projects to do Adobe Illustartor this far. I love being able to have the creative freedom to come up with original, ideas. I also appreciated the fact that we were creating multiple ideas and tweaking them as we went along. A lot of my sketches were very similar- I liked more simple and dainty designs with not a lot of graphics or design. I liked how both G and P have rounded tops and ever since I was little I would combine them to make a heart. So, I knew that was a potential candidate for my final decision. SO, I think what is unique about my logo is the fact that it is sentimental to me. Although it just looks like a heart, it is something I grew up drawing which I think is really cool. I liked the simplicity and appreciate that my logo can go anywhere- it can be big , small, fits on a shirt, and is clearly visible it all shapes styles and contests. I also like how easily you can modify the colors to as needed. Although my final logo I would w

3/9: Calligram Project

Above is my calligram project that I designed by myself. Although I was inspired by a plane, I decided to make and create my own shapes using the pen and clone tool. When I wrote my letter I knew that one of the most important things in my life is the joy that traveling brings me. So, when creating my image, I knew I wanted to do a pane to represent that. I added the stars and the moon for stylistic elements and to just get comfortable using the tools. It took me around 2 hours to perfect the whole thing. I couldn't get the clouds exactly how I wanted but after a few tries using the pen tool I got them the way I envisioned.      I think the project really helped me familiarize myself with all the tools, I used star tool to create the clouds, the paintbrush tool for the clouds, and the pen tool for the airplane. I liked moving into illustrator because I felt more in control of my tools and feel it is more creative than Dreamweaver. I also played around with the gradient backgr
