3/30: Self Portrait/ Propaganda Poster

Image
This week was one of my favorite in Illustrator. I love making art and being creative and I felt this project really let me lean into that. Although this took me around 5 hours, it was so fun and a really enjoyable project. When creating my self-portrait I first assessed which body parts I need to create first so that the layer was correct. For example, I needed my face in front of my neck but below my hair. I decided to do each body part in different layers that way if my judgement was incorrect, I was able to easily move around my objects in the order that they should appear. I also found it challenging to decide which colors I wanted my skin to be because when I would use the dropper tool it would be too dark or too light and look a bit unrealistic. I also found that using black lines for my tattoo and eyes looked a bit harsh so I ad to mute the shades in order for it to look more natural.       For my propaganda poster, I decided to rec...

3/24: Logo

Image
Personally this was one of my favorite projects to do Adobe Illustartor this far. I love being able to have the creative freedom to come up with original, ideas. I also appreciated the fact that we were creating multiple ideas and tweaking them as we went along. A lot of my sketches were very similar- I liked more simple and dainty designs with not a lot of graphics or design. I liked how both G and P have rounded tops and ever since I was little I would combine them to make a heart. So, I knew that was a potential candidate for my final decision. SO, I think what is unique about my logo is the fact that it is sentimental to me. Although it just looks like a heart, it is something I grew up drawing which I think is really cool. I liked the simplicity and appreciate that my logo can go anywhere- it can be big , small, fits on a shirt, and is clearly visible it all shapes styles and contests. I also like how easily you can modify the colors to as needed. Although my final logo I wou...

3/9: Calligram Project

Image
Above is my calligram project that I designed by myself. Although I was inspired by a plane, I decided to make and create my own shapes using the pen and clone tool. When I wrote my letter I knew that one of the most important things in my life is the joy that traveling brings me. So, when creating my image, I knew I wanted to do a pane to represent that. I added the stars and the moon for stylistic elements and to just get comfortable using the tools. It took me around 2 hours to perfect the whole thing. I couldn't get the clouds exactly how I wanted but after a few tries using the pen tool I got them the way I envisioned.      I think the project really helped me familiarize myself with all the tools, I used star tool to create the clouds, the paintbrush tool for the clouds, and the pen tool for the airplane. I liked moving into illustrator because I felt more in control of my tools and feel it is more creative than Dreamweaver. I also played a...

2/20: Illustrator Intro

I think one of the harder tools in illustrator to use will probably be the pen tool. I have taken a few classes in adobe apps and remember this being true. I am currently taking another digital media class and I sometimes still have trouble using the curve tool and making accurate arcs. I think every aspect f this tool is difficult including the add and delete anchor tool.       I think that after lots of practice and just becoming more familiar with the software will help me learn how to properly use the pen tool Watching the video off YouTube really has helped me understand precisely how it works which s very helpful. I also explained some shortcuts on my keyboard that will make it easier for me to help make custom shapes.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cik1Ed9gzLE One tool that I have no experience with is the blob tool. Since it is unfamiliar to me, I think tat can cause it to be a little bit difficult for me. I think you have to be pre...

2/13: Canvas Project

Image
Final Work:  To create my Harry Potter Project I used Dreamweaver and my knowledge of coding to complete my rendition of the famous wizard. I chose Harry Potter as my subject because as a kid my dad and I would watch the movies together. I decided on replicating a cartoon version of him because my dad bought me a little bobble head for my desk before I went away to college.      I really enjoyed this project because it tested my skills as a student and gave me a better understanding of the software. I think that the hair gave me the most trouble but once I finally realized how to correctly place the coordinates for the quadratic curves, it became pretty easy. I started off with the more basic shapes and had to strategically layer each one. I would run into problems when copying and pasting codes because sometimes they would disappear or overlap one another. So, this project really helped me understand how to properly code shapes together to make a cohe...

1/26: The Internet, World Wide Web, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Every day, we mindlessly scroll through our phones and use technology without a second thought. As a Gen Z, I take for granted that only 30 years ago this type of accessibility and the era of social media was seemingly much obsolete. Computers were just giant calculators and only used by the people who created them or were rich enough to buy one. Now, smartphones have more computing power than the rockets that sent people to the moon. Now, we use int internet and World Wide Web without even knowing how it was created and who created it. As far back as the 1900’s people like Nikola Tesla and Guglielmo Marconi wanted ways to connect with people around the world without using wires.      Then, the World Telegraphy system was created as a global network in the 1900’s. In the 1970’s two engineers, Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf began inventing the modern-day Internet and coined the names The Founding Fathers of the Internet. They originally created this...
